IONIQ 6 by year and trim

The IONIQ 6 went on sale for 2023 and stayed largely the same through 2025. Range depends on the battery, the drive and the wheels.

EPA estimated range when new, as reported by Edmunds and Kelley Blue Book. Their overview pages sometimes still quote an older figure for a version. A used car's real range depends on its battery health.

What to check on a used IONIQ 6

  • The charging control unit recall. Hyundai recalled 2023 to 2025 IONIQ 6s because the integrated charging control unit (ICCU) can stop charging the 12 volt battery, which can lead to warnings, reduced power and then loss of drive (NHTSA recalls 24V-204 and 24V-868). The fix is a software update, plus a new unit and fuse where needed, and it is free. Confirm it was done on any IONIQ 6 you consider.
  • Other recalls. A 2025 recall covers the charge port door panel on 2023 to 2025 cars, and a 2026 recall (NHTSA 26V-218) covers the front seat belt anchors. Check any VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
  • Warranty for a second owner. Hyundai's warranty chart, as Hyundai dealers publish it, limits the 10 year or 100,000 mile powertrain warranty to the original owner. Later owners get powertrain coverage under the 5 year or 60,000 mile new vehicle warranty. The same chart lists the hybrid and electric battery warranty at 10 years or 100,000 miles for both original and later owners. The warranty booklet for the car is the final word, so confirm what applies by VIN with a Hyundai dealer. We can help you do that before you buy.
  • Charge port. 2023 to 2025 cars have a CCS1 port, which also takes the common J1772 plug for home charging.
  • The fit. The sloping roof costs some rear headroom and trunk space compared with a crossover. Sit in the back seat before you decide.

Fast charging and home charging

The IONIQ 6 runs on an 800 volt electrical system. On a 350 kW DC fast charger it can go from 10 to 80 percent in about 18 minutes, a figure Edmunds confirmed in its own testing. That makes it one of the quickest road trip EVs at any price.

At home it charges with a J1772 plug. We sell the Emporia Pro in a J1772 version for $599, and our installation partner works in Mishawaka, South Bend, Elkhart and Granger, with flat-rate pricing you can get online. Indiana Michigan Power's Charge Sync Rewards program pays enrolled Indiana customers an $8 monthly bill credit for charging overnight on a Level 2 charger, and Emporia chargers are on its list. The installation pages have the details. A charger is sold separately from the car.

Safety and awards

The IONIQ 6 earned the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award for 2023, 2024 and 2025, and a five star overall rating from NHTSA on 2024 and 2025 models. It was named World Car of the Year in 2023.

Used IONIQ 6 questions

Does the Hyundai warranty carry over to a used IONIQ 6?

Partly, going by Hyundai's warranty chart as its dealers publish it. The 10 year or 100,000 mile powertrain warranty is for the original owner only, and later owners get powertrain coverage under the 5 year or 60,000 mile new vehicle warranty. The chart lists the electric battery warranty at 10 years or 100,000 miles for later owners as well. Confirm what applies to the car by VIN with a Hyundai dealer. We can help you do that.

How fast does an IONIQ 6 charge?

On a 350 kW DC fast charger, about 18 minutes from 10 to 80 percent. At home on a Level 2 charger it fills overnight.

What is the ICCU recall?

It is a Hyundai recall on 2023 to 2025 IONIQ 6s for the integrated charging control unit, which can stop charging the 12 volt battery and eventually cause a loss of drive power. Hyundai fixes it free with a software update and, where needed, a new unit and fuse. Check that it has been completed on the car you are buying.

How far does an IONIQ 6 go on a charge?

When new, EPA ratings ranged from 240 miles for the Standard Range car to 361 miles for the 2023 and 2024 SE rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive cars were rated 270 miles.

Is there a federal tax credit for a used EV?

Not today. The federal used clean vehicle credit is not available for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. We are not tax advisors, so confirm your own situation with a professional.

Can I trade in my current car?

Yes, any make, electric or not. Tell us about it online and we will send an offer within one business day, good for seven days. Indiana charges sales tax on the price of the car you are buying minus your trade-in allowance.
